The HexaGo structure provides an unprecedented shock absorption in the event of an impact, because the forces are distributed in a wide area through the honeycomb structure. Moreover, the elastomer can be compressed in a consistent way, absorbing the energy deriving from a crash. We usually tend to consider only the main consequences related to high speed crashes, but accidents can occur even at low speed. In this case, the traditional polystyrene helmets do not provide an effective protection: because of its hardness, the polystyrene layer is not deformed at low speed, and it cannot absorb the impact energy. The HexaGo structure can instead be deformed and compressed even in the case of a low speed impact, thanks to its functional elasticity.
